I have to be honest, I’m feeling a bit of anxiety about my upcoming mountain biking trip to Morocco.
For one, I’m not in the shape I would like to be. I went on a 23-24 miles bike ride last Sunday (my first ride this year), and I was huffing and puffing by the end, plus by quads were on fire. That worries me considering how many miles I’ll have to cover during my week in the High Atlas. In fact the hills will be steeper and I’ll be at a higher elevation, too. I know in the end I will be fine. I know how to endure and push myself, but I wanted this trip to be challenging, not painful.
Secondly, this is my first trip where I’m fully reliant on the touring company.
I am depending on the touring company to provide me everything I am going to need: transportation, bicycle, food, water, and shelter. If there’s something they forget, goes wrong, or I don’t like, the options are extremely limited. We’ll be staying with locals in the mountains for most of the trip, and I don’t know what to expect from that.
Thirdly, I have to minimize what I pack, but I have to pack everything I’ll need.
If I forget anything…I’m S.O.L. We’ve already discussed in a past post, that I am not exactly a great packer. I have the habit to over pack, so this trip is definitely going to teach me a thing or two. As you can see from the picture above, everything from the left must fit into the two packs on the right…plus a few other things I still need to get.
I’ve traveled a lot over the years, but I’ve never done this type of trip. This was my plan for 2015 – to have adventures, to do more traveling and be outdoors more. Even though I am a tad anxious about this trip; I’m also extremely excited. I know I’ll be fine no matter what happens, the Lord is looking over me. I am good at adapting to all situations…whatever they may be.
This is a trip to take me out of my comfort zone, and push me into new exciting exploits!!
I’m packing extra GoPro batteries so hoping to get a lot of pictures and footage of this trip.
This is a video the touring company made about my upcoming trip:
